About “The Middle Pages”

Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin is nestled on the banks of the beautiful Chippewa River about 90 miles east of Minneapolis/St. Paul, and 247 miles northwest of Milwaukee. From its humble beginnings of fur trading and logging to the development of the supercomputer, Chippewa Falls has an exciting industrial heritage. Chippewa Falls is home to nationally known Mason Shoe, Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company, and Chippewa Springs Water and internationally known computer technology companies Cray Inc. and Silicon Graphics Incorporated.

The Chippewa Falls School District serves approximately 5,000 students from Chippewa Falls, Jim Falls, and Lake Hallie. The Chippewa Falls Middle School (CFMS) has approximately 1,100 students serving grades 6-8, and is the home of “The Middle Pages”.

“The Middle Pages” is a student published newspaper for CFMS students, staff, parents, and community members. Printed editions of the newspaper can be recorded back to 1982, and as technology has impacted the classroom “The Middle Pages” went online in the spring of 2010. The 8th grade students in the Printing and Publishing classes create desktop publishing projects, contribute to the published newspaper, and design the CFMS yearbook. Currently, the popularity of using technology in the classroom has lead to several sections of Printing and Publishing being offered to students with Ms. Drivas advising the production of the online newspaper, and Mr. Caswell advising the production of the yearbook.
