The Talent Show is coming up around the corner, and we want to give you the inside scoop. The parent night show will be on April 19th at 7:00 p.m. and the school wide show will be April 21st. There will be a variety of talents performed to show off their talents. There will be singing, dancing, and so much more! The Master of Ceremonies (Annie Freid, Kaitlin Kaz, Noah Mutter-Schulz, and John McNamara) are working hard to make sure you laugh out loud while the acts are getting ready to go on stage. The Decorations, Backstage, and Sound and Lighting crews are getting ready too, so you feel like you’re relaxing on a Hawaiian beach. There will be more than 20 acts that will be performed for your entertainment involving all grades. We interviewed a few people from the people performing to who’s behind the stage. See what they think about the 2011 Talent Show.
All the Acts say that the Talent Show is coming up faster than they expected. We interviewed Trisha, Dante, Linzy, Kayla, and Chantae. Trisha told us she would be singing the song “Forget You” by Cee-Lo Green, but the Glee cast version. She tells us that her rehearsals are going okay, but at the moment her throat has been hurting. We all hope it gets better for the Talent Show, because she is already nervous for it. Dante will be performing his legendary break dance moves, for the third year in the row. He says he’s excited about trying new dance moves and see how the audience reacts. Linzy and a group of friends will be dancing to the song “Whip My Hair” by Willow Smith. She told us that they decided to be part of the Talent Show to something new, fun, and exciting. Singing “Forever and Always” by Taylor Swift is what Kayla and Chantae will be performing. Chantae told us that she found out her talent by her parents telling her that she was a good singer, and participated in a few contests over the years. Kayla told us that Chantae convinced her to sing with her, and she gave in. They say that they are getting the nerves, the excitement, and the thrill. Everyone is excited to see what acts will be performed and how well they will do.
We also interviewed some people that help to make the Talent Show happen. Look and see what they said. Hunter, who helps with the backstage crew makes sure people are ready to perform on time and push props out. He said that his job is not that difficult to do, but he admits that he’s a little nervous, because it’s his responsibility to get the people on the stage, and get things in the right place. Making a mistake won’t make hardly any difference that the audience will notice. Mrs. Pukrop also told us a few things that you might want to know. She told us that one of her favorite acts was a 7th grade boy he did the exact same dance moves from a music video, the name is for you to find out when he performs. The act was one of her favorites, because she realized how much time he had to spend on the routine to get it right and look good.
The Jazz band members also told us how they are responding about performing in the talent show. We interviewed Aidan, the only bass guitarist in the whole jazz band. Aidan says he is excited about the talent show because everyone in the jazz band has their own talent, which is playing their instrument. He told us two of the songs they will be performing, which are called Funky Town and Jazz Police. He tells us that the songs are challenging, and they are working hard to get it right. Another person told us that he’s also excited about performing in the talent show, because he likes to feel the excitement when playing. He also told us that there will be a solo played, but you will find out who when they perform.
The Show Choir will also be performing in the Talent Show too. Nicki, Marissa, and Rachel gave us some details about their performance. They all told us that they are exciting about performing, because they feel a new emotion that they don’t experience in rehearsal. Some songs they will perform is Think of Me (from Phantom of the Opera), Ease on Down the Road, and Rockin’ Robin. They say that they have been working hard on the songs and dance moves to make sure you enjoy their show.
We want to remind our audience to respect people who are performing and tell them afterward that they did a wonderful job. Everyone taking the courage to perform in the Talent Show, good luck!
